Kathleen Schreurs, PhD. Kathleen has recently joined the Centre as a Research and Communications Associate. Kathleen has a PhD in Library and Information Science and a research background in digital technology, particularly online communities, networked society, digital reading and writing practices, digital storytelling, and online communication tools. Recently she has conducted studies in the areas of digital authorship, the e-reading practices of children (ages 2-12), and seniors’ use of digital communications in everyday life.

Kathleen has expertise in the area of research methods and statistics, particularly in qualitative and quantitative data analysis, survey design, interviews, focus groups, and ethnographic research. She also has extensive experience with research and learning technologies, such as online information searching, databases, online survey software, data analysis software, course management systems and professional training software. Kathleen has taught research to graduate students at Western University.

Previously Kathleen has studied and worked in writing and communications, in roles that include data and records management, software planning, and graphic design. This work involved the creation of visual information materials such as infographs, presentations, instruction manuals, video training/tutorials, proposals and reports, as well as promotional materials such as brochures, pamphlets, emails, and social media posts.

Kathleen holds a Masters of Information Studies from UofT and an Honours BA in Professional Writing from York University.

In her spare hours Kathleen likes to crochet, read, and rock climb. But most of the time she is kept busy with her family—her spouse, two young daughters, and a Polish Sheepdog named Zelda.
